The UK general election was on July 4 this year, and the US election is on Nov 5. That’s two weeks away. If you’re in the US, you may have already voted, if your state allows early voting. Maybe not. If you haven’t voted, now is a good time to check to make sure you have a plan.
Vote.gov is a US federal website that will help you find the info for your location. (In the US, many voting regulations are decided by state. Voting locations are often decided at the county level. This can be confusing if you move across a county line without realizing it.)
The group RepresentUs has a public service announcement video about deepfakes trying to fool people into not voting, by telling you voting has been extended a day, or your polling location has changed, or that you need additional documents. The message is to check your state or county official information and not believe a message or robocall. It’s well done, with a mix of both real and deepfake celebrities.
