DayInTheLife: Some weekends feel really short

[One of the occasional series of posts about my typical day.]

This was one of those weekends.  Laundry, errands, cleaning, laundry.  Oh, and catching up on sleep.  I also finished a couple murder mysteries, played some puzzle pirates, and had some quality time with the man of the house.

Yet it seems really short.

I think part of it is that I’ve been feeling under the weather.  The cold I had a few weeks ago has been lingering, getting better, getting worse, but never going away.  I’ve been sick enough that my productivity sucks, but not enough that I feel justified staying home.  (Maybe that’s me being stupid.)  Last week I mostly was sniffling, coughing, and dealing with brain fog. I went in late a few mornings, but didn’t take time off.

Oh, and I’ve got some new challenges at work, which brain fog and fatigue isn’t helping.

I’m writing this Sunday night while listening to the Compline service broadcast by KING-FM.  My general description of the service is “nighttime prayers for monastics”.

Guard us waking, Lord, and guide us sleeping;
That awake we may watch with Christ,
And asleep we may rest in peace.

One thing I did do this weekend (besides laundry ;) was to catch up on sleep.  I also didn’t stay up later on Friday, and Saturday night I went to bed a bit early.  Tonight I’m going to bed a bit earlier than last night.  Hopefully sleep will be restorative in this case…

And if not, oh well. :)
