“Love is kind”
— 1st Corinthians 13
“Love is an emotion of a strong affection and personal attachment. […] “Love” may refer specifically to the passionate desire and intimacy of romantic love, to the sexual love of eros, to the emotional closeness of familial love, to the platonic love that defines friendship, or to the profound oneness or devotion of religious love, or to a concept of love that encompasses all of those feelings.”
— Wikipedia
“Love is a chemical state of mind that’s part of our genes and influenced by our upbringing.”
— How Stuff Works
“I’m selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.”
— Marilyn Monroe
“I love you — I am at rest with you — I have come home.”
— Dorothy L. Sayers
I have to say that Marilyn Monroe quote is one of the wisest things I’ve read in a long time… and the Dorothy L. Sayers one sounds precisely like the sound my heart made when I woke up and smelled the Mr. Twistie… as it were.
The Sayers quote is from one character to another on their honeymoon. But it also reminded me of my (sadly late) kitty.
I recognized it, because I’ve read the book. But I firmly believe my cat felt that way when he met me. It’s one of those universal things that so few people manage to put into the right words.
