We’re having our first taste of summer in Seattle now, with temps above 90F. The main problem, of course, is that we don’t really cool off at night. Even using the heat pump to keep the main interior in the 70s, the air is dryer and things feel different.

Staying cool is a priority for me since I take antihistamines, which makes me feel the heat more. Also I’ve had heat exhaustion and did not enjoy it.

For treadmill, it’s a bit weird. We have the treadmill in the sunroom, which has a durable tile floor but isn’t on the main heating or cooling system. We have a portable AC there, which can keep the temp below 80 if it’s early, so I got up early today to walk on the treadmill. I also took advantage of “under 85 outside” to do mundane things like taking recycling to the bin and grabbing some frozen food from the deep freeze in the garage.

Now it’s 91 outside and I’m staying inside.

How are you handling the heat wave?

I don’t know about you but when I get hot/exercise I don’t sweat. My face will get really red and maybe I’ll sweat a little on the back of my neck but that’s it. So then I sit in front of a fan and spritz myself with ice cold water and repeat over and over and over!😂

I don’t sweat as much as I used to – but I’m breathing better with the asthma and allergy meds that make me sweat less! Spritzing with water + fans is a good thing, or a cool shower or putting feet into cool water or eating cold foods and drinks. Whatever works!
