Living ~400lbs

… and believe me I am still alive

Thankful Thursday

[a not-always-weekly exercise in gratitude]

1) Orange-mango-banana smoothies, or at least the one I had on the way home today.  I seem to be coming down with something — headache, a bit of a sore throat, some coughing and sneezing, very little appetite.  I left work a bit early because I was feeling worse.  Partway home it occurred to me that a smoothie might make my throat feel better, so I swung through a Starbucks drive-thru.  Wow.  Not only did it make my throat feel better, but I apparently needed some calories.  I followed it up with some shortbread when I got home — and dinner is in the oven.

2) I’m getting better at seizing sunbreaks to go for a walk.  Still not necessarily walking very far – we’re talking a few blocks here – but I’m doing it consistently, which is my goal.

3) Small January book display victories :)

4) Good discussions of intuitive eatingnutrition, and comfortable clothes.

5) The man of the house, for braving the possibilities of germs to give me a welcome-home kiss  ;)

  1. I’m thankful that the cold that has had me laid out for days is finally on its way out, just as I have the house blissfully to myself for a few days.

I’m thankful that some good friends gave me a rabbit to cook at Christmas…and I get to eat it this weekend while Mr. Twistie is away so he won’t be traumatized. And that I’m finally well enough that I’m going to cook it tomorrow.

I’m thankful that the used set of Red Dwarf DVDs I ordered through Amazon have arrived ahead of schedule and in great shape. I needed the laughs.

I’m thankful for ginger tea, my marmalade cat, and stupid TV that got me through the Dark Days of Phlegm.

I’m thankful that a new season of Project Runway starts tonight, so my imaginary gay celebrity boyfriend, Tim Gunn, will be back on my television. Call me, Tim! I’ll bake scones!

Most of all, I’m thankful that Mr. Twistie will return at the end of the weekend, because even a few days apart – while I needed the alone time – seem like forever.

    1. :) Haven’t had rabbit in years. Sounds terrific. I like ginger tea too – I have both a lemon ginger herbal tisane & a peach ginger tea.

  2. Thanks for the shout out! :)

And I’ve been fighting off some kind of ick with peppermint tea and chai lattes. Almost makes the scratchy throat worth it!
