Living ~400lbs

… and believe me I am still alive

Monday…yeah, I guess it is…

Nothing like meeting and interviewing 6 5 4 3 job candidates in different buildings after a 1-hour whirlwind meeting to make me feel scattered.  I did pull it together, though, and I think I did a good job of interviewing.  I tend to dress a little more on the “business” side of business casual when I have interviews. Partly that it’s easier for me to stay on time if I wear a watch, and I get self-conscious if I’m wearing a watch without rings.  Maybe that’s just me….

Anyway. Black slacks, red v-neck top, black banded watch, garnet and gold rings.  And a really good song  by Marian Call.

  1. Hoping that the interviewing is because you WANT to, not because you have to! Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

    1. Thanks, but actually I was the interviewer! My group at work is looking for people :) I edited the start of the post to try to make that clearer!

  2. Egads, yes. Interviewing people is more exhausting than anything else I ever had to do at work. All that trying to see into people’s souls and predict the future because a bad hire is unthinkable, or maybe that was just my toxic work environment. Yikes. Thank you for the awesome music. Gonna have to hunt down her other work.

Garnets are so beautiful! Sounds like a very empowering wardrobe choice. I always hated being the interviewer even more than being the interviewee…

Also, your HAES tweet reminded me of a conversation I had with a care provider at the health clinic where I go. She’s not someone I see regularly, so she came over to chat while I was waiting to see someone else, and she said “How are you doing? You look a lot better than when I saw you last,” to which I said, “Yes, thanks, things are going better.”

She then said “I see you’ve lost weight” in a very perky tone, and I answered “Unfortunately, it’s because of {medical issue}, not because I’ve been on an Everest expedition or started a great new exercise regime or anything fun.” She looked a little surprised by my directness, but went on to ask in a supportive way which doctors I was seeing for that issue and how the treatments I was using were going, but hoping that I planted a seed…

Hopefully yes! I do find that kind of situation can be hard, and I’m glad you were able to answer it in a way that you were comfortable. ;)

  4. That was a cute song. :)

Also, that’s a whole lot of interviews! Did everyone show up at least?

    1. Nope – that’s why it went from 6 to 5 to 4 ;) We had 2 cancellations, plus one was so unsuitable that the candidate was sent home before I would’ve spoken with him.

      1. Figured that’s what you meant. My company’s been trying to hire for a bunch of positions lately and has been having trouble with people ditching on interviews. It’s weird to me, considering how hard a time I’ve been having looking a new job, to think anyone would ditch an interview.
