Virtual Window Shopping: Nifty Prices
8 comments on Virtual Window Shopping: Nifty Prices[Looking at supersize / extended size clothing which is to say, clothing I can wear. Preferably modeled by fat people.] Mostly with the virtual window shopping I’ve been looking at women’s clothes that I could wear* and that I think are really really nifty. This week it’s stuff I could wear, like enough to wear, and have nifty prices — under $25. One Stop Plus: Print knit…

Kim Weighs In: Getting Active
Kim Brittingham is a fat chick who isn’t afraid to get on YouTube. I liked the humor in this short about exercise; I also think the shirt with the back pocket is cool. She’s also posted other videos, including 2 shorts on … shoes. I have Aravons myself, though not exactly the ones she features. ;) [Video transcripts are available here.]

Virtual Window Shopping: Halloween
[Looking at supersize / extended size clothing which is to say, clothing I can wear. Preferably modeled by fat people.] I’ve done different things for Halloween. One piece is the Love Your Peaches catsuit in black velvet. I bought it for clubbing, but it (or black leggings and top) can be the basis of many a costume. Get cat ears & a tail at a costume or craft…

Window Shopping: Sweaters
[Looking at supersize / extended size clothing, which is to say, clothing I can wear. Preferably modeled by fat people] After weeks of highs in the 70s and 80s we’re suddenly experiencing … fall. I even wore a sweater to work today. I’ve been looking forward to sweater season this year. Suddenly I don’t worry about whether my bra’s cup seams show. Since my desk…

Shopping: Bras, Bras, Bras
(“Bras, Bras, Bras” to be whined in an intonation similar to the infamous “Marcia, Marcia, Marcia”) Sometimes I wonder if the bra I wear most is as supportive as they feel or if I’m just really used to them—in fact, I think a lot of bra comfort has to do with what you’re used to and what you look for in a bra. I want it to hold…

Virtual Window Shopping Swimsuits
[Looking at supersize / extended size clothing, which is to say, clothing I can wear. Preferably modeled by fat people] I’m looking forward to a sunny vacation in November. So naturally I’m looking at swimsuits. Even though I already have 4 suits. Okay, if you don’t want to know why I have so many suits, skip down. I liked my deep size 30 V-neck skirted-style once-piece…

Virtual Window-Shopping
[Looking at supersize / extended size clothing, which is to say, clothing I can wear. Preferably modeled by fat people] Some things I’m thinking of but not sure I need enough to buy: A purple patterned flannel shirt – Not a “typical” flannel shirt, so I’d feel less 90s in it than my plaid ones. But collars and I don’t always get along. Blue & purple watercolor shirt…

Thankful Thursday
[Another weekly exercise in gratitude.] 1) A week that is going well. 2) I can lay on my back for half an hour or more and not have it “lock up”. 3) The annual summer drought has ended, or at least is in a lull. 4) I now walk half a mile in 15 minutes (used to take me 25). 5) Discovering a way to get grease stains out…

Thankful Thursday…
…just under the wire :) Today I’m thankful for: My Making It Big order (BOGO, on clearance) arriving and all four items fit. I’m taking a long weekend just because I feel like it ;) Being able to lift some boxes today a lot easier than a few months ago. Going out to the French place for a Bastille Day special on Tuesday. New bras that fit.…

Fun with Search Terms
WordPress tracks what people searched on that led them to this site. “Living 400lbs” is probably the most common one and one I find amazing (people are looking for me!) But some are a bit weird, anothers, well, deserve an answer. “i weigh 350 and i cant work” — Weight is not a disability. Most of the time that I weighed 350 I was working at a…

Meet the New Bras…
…same as the old bras…only from a new store. One that I’m not sure if I will order from again. While it was nowhere near the ordeal Lesley had with Avenue, it was its own sort of Special. Bras ordered? April 26, 2009. I send email to check on bras? June 10th, 2009. Email returned as undeliverable? June 10th, 2009. Call to check on order? June 10th,…

Breaking out in hives…
Not sure why, but I’ve got itchy red bumps on my chest and the bottom half of my face, and right eye feels swollen. There isn’t much that’s only touched my chest and face, other than my facial moisturizer, which I have stopped using just in case that’s the cause. I’m taking enough Benedryl and Claritin to make me want to fall asleep, and using Benedryl…

Fat Clothing Catalogs…
In my experience, there are two kinds of companies that put out supersize/extended-size catalogs for fat women: Large companies with mostly imported mass-produced clothing, cheap prices, and a propensity for selling their mailing lists. Quality tends to be uniform. Examples: Roaman’s, Woman Within, Silhouettes, Lane Bryant Catalog. Small specialty companies that only do plus or supersize clothing. Often they design and produce their clothing in-house, sometimes even…

Bras
November 7th’s “Between Friends” had me laughing. Saleswoman, smiling: I brought some more bras for you to try. Susan: Uh…Look — these are all nice and frilly and colorful, but — Susan: Do you think you could find me something in basic white that’s comfortable and has good support? Saleswoman, resigned: (thought bubble) Man, these over-forty chicks…where do they get their priorities? My personal bra bugaboos are…
