Virtual Window Shopping: Hourglass, Apple, Pineapple, Pear…

Shades of Right Fit Jeans!  Junonia has come out with a series of sport pants in 4 different cuts, in sizes 1X to 6X, and 3 different lengths.  Nice, eh?

Hourglass, Apple, Pineapple, Pear
Four pants designs

Well…sort of.  You see, they’re not giving any custom sizing for them — just talking about cut in the description.  Has it perhaps not occurred to them that things like “garment waistband measurement”  or “garment hip measurement” might help some of us to determine which cut we might want?

  1. Interesting. I’m definitely hourglass shaped (well, currently basketball shaped, but normally hourglass shaped ;)), and I think the “hourglass” pants there look like they’d be wildly unflattering on me, much more so than the other pants.

  2. Interesting idea and at least they’re making an effort… I’m a cross between pear and hourglass (with huge thighs/saddlebags). I seem to remember Junonia made a longer-leg aquatard swimming costume, but I can’t seem to find anyone selling it on ebay any more (I’m in the UK, so buy from US ebay sellers).

  3. Pineapple? Is this new? Because I have long felt that I just didn’t really fit into any of the other three categories.

I mean, I have the tummy of an apple, the smallish (for a gal my size-I’m a solid D) chest (though broad shoulders), and hourglass only in the sense that my waist is smaller than my hips. But a Pineapple seems to suit me just right! HOORAY! I’m a Pineapple! Finally, a fruit I can identify with! And of course, my outside can even be somewhat prickly at times…and I’m sweet and juicy on the inside, with a very hard core! HA! WE HAVE A FRUIT! I can’t wait to tell everyone!!!!!!

    1. I certainly haven’t heard of Pineapple before, but if it works for you then great ;)

  4. Are these styles, or fits?

Because the boot-cut they have for “Apple” is flattering for me, but I am not an apple shape, and buying pants that are cut for an apple will get me a too-short back rise and huge gaps in the waistband. While the mild taper in the “Pear” pant is… no no honey no. Not for me.

    So I’m confused here.

  5. Junonia has taken extremely poor advice, is what.

  6. I’m trying to figure out the difference between apple and pineapple besides height. Is there really one? Is pineapple the new term for something like the old “inverted triangle”?

I’ve always found it difficult to use these sorts of fit guidelines because I’m somewhere between hourglass and inverted triangle (waist is the smallest size, measurements-wise, hips measure a size larger than waist, and bust is a size larger than hips) and have a long rise.

  7. I know the hourglass and pear fit would give me the mom jeans look, apple or pineapple would be more flattering. But I’m not a true “fruit,” *grin* because my shoulders are broad, my chest is huge, my thighs are big but I have a smallish waist and long torso. And my butt is wide and flat. Maybe I’m a fruit salad!

  8. It’s nice to see that they’re making them in tall lengths as well as petite and average. If I had any need for cotton yoga pants, I’d totally buy some.
I wish they had more watersports-related clothes that aren’t for swimming… I could really use a pair of water-resistant/quick-drying pants for keeping warm while paddling.
